Postpartum Pilates

New mothers are encouraged to bring their babies to this
class. This is a chance for mom to get back into shape
with the Pilates Method while not being separated from her new baby.
Pilates strengthens the core muscles, including the back and abdominals
that have been stretched during childbirth. Nursing mothers are
welcome. Daniela Sciannaemo is certified in the Pilates Method as
well as Prenatal and Postpartum exercise. Daniela is also a new
mother.

Please join us for pre-natal classes at Harmony Studios this Winter.
Many of you are already aware of all of the amazing benefits of
a regular yoga practice: Increase in overall strength, balance and
flexibility, rinsing and stimulating internal organs to aid digestion,
promoting circulation and increased oxygen flow - all while calming
the nervous system and ridding the body of toxins! By maintaining
a regular practice during pregnancy, your baby gets all these benefits
too! The prenatal classes are conducted in a calm and peaceful environment
where it is safe to discuss any discomforts, concerns or joys you
may be experiencing. We will guide you through asana with the tools
that you need to help you alleviate overall discomfort during this
journey, including swelling of the joints, back pain, and sciatica.
Additionally, you will learn how to strengthen the pelvic muscles
and open your hips to prepare your body for birth and prevent some
of the common "wear and tear" that happens during pregnancy...all
while connecting with your growing baby. It is suggested that you
bring water and a towel.
Please note this workshop is on the
2nd Saturday of the month instead of the first!..

This 2 1/2-hour workshop is designed for brand new beginners and
intermediate students wanting more detail to postural alignment.
This is a great way to learn the basics in an intimate non-competitive
environment. We will take you through the fundamentals of alignment
and breath work as you begin to experience for yourself some of
the benefits that arise from practicing yoga such as:
- Increased flexibility
- Increased strength
- Cardiovascular and digestive health
- Sense of well being & relaxation
In this workshop you will learn proper yogic breathing techniques, sun salutations,
standing poses and hip openers. You will be introduced to back bending,
forward bending and inversions. Workshop will conclude with a deep
relaxation. Wear comfortable clothing. This workshop is offered the
first Saturday of each month.
